Washinton Island, Door County, Wisconsin 2006
This is one of only five white limestone beaches in the world. Another one is in Nice, France. My wife has been to the one in Nice as well. We're planning a trip to Europe next year, so maybe we'll make it down there for me to take some pictures.
I thought it was cool how the different pieces seemed to create layers of repeating light and dark. I must have taken 20 shots just trying to get the right wave.
Tidbit: It's illegal by state law to remove stones from this beach.
