WalMart announced it will be expanding its "avian employment initiative" by hiring birds to conduct its loss prevention operations.

"Loss prevention is a very high priority at WalMart. As everyone in retail knows, loss due to theft is the second highest cost - after labor - that a company incurs. WalMart is committed to keeping prices low. In order to do that, we need to minimize costs. WalMart has therefore instituted a policy of using birds to enforce loss prevention. Not only will this allow us to reduce the size of our paid security staff, but we can also reduce our energy costs, and help the environment in the process, by eliminating our security cameras."
