Still Life 1993

We're going deep into the archives for this one. It was part of a project I did when I still wanted to be an architect. We started out making a 1' x 1' x 1' frame out of 1/4" basswood. We then had to find a "natural" object, and join the frame with the natural object. Eventually this was developed into a design for a building. You can see one of the final drawings in my analog art section, under Stumpy Joe.

This is a scan the full 11" x 14" photo. For presentation, I used a piece of hot-press watercolor paper with a 1' square opening as a mat, and back-mounted the photo.

Forgive me while I geek out a bit here. I have to say, Photoshop never ceases to amaze me. The original scan was roughly 8,000 x 6,300 pixels. To post it, I shrunk it to 550 x 706 pixels; that translates to roughly 0.8% of the number of pixels in the original scan. I'm stunned at the level of detail Photoshop preserved. It took it about 5 minutes to resize the image, but it did a superb job. :)
